Animal Care And Control Slashing Adoption Rates For One Day Only
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) — The Christmas season is really a chance for everyone to show they care. The City of Cedar Rapids is hoping the public will at Animal Care and Control, this coming weekend.
In an effort to boost adoptions in the busy weeks leading up to Christmas, officials are hosting their 5th PAWS for the Holidays Open House at their location on 76th Avenue Drive SW, Saturday, December 8th.
“Some of these pets have been here for quite a while,” said Diane Webber, the facility’s program manager. “This sort of event gives them a little bit of new exposure. More people that might not otherwise come here, might come in here for the activities and see something that they just can’t live without.”
There will be a bake sale, raffle tickets, Santa and more. But, beyond that, perhaps the best deal, pet adoptions on the 8th will be cut to $5 for any spayed or neutered dog or cat.
“Every pet deserves to have a home for the holidays,” said Webber. “That’s what it’s all about.”
