The Old English Sheepdog is a beloved breed that is extremely loyal and friendly. Old English Sheepdogs were originally bred to sheep, so they require a good amount of exercise. Old English Sheepdogs are quite large, ranging in size from 60 to 100 pounds. Their long shaggy coat makes the Old English Sheepdog appear much larger than it is. They are very intelligent and adaptable, making them great family pets.

Grooming

Old English Sheepdogs have long shaggy fur that is generally blue-gray. Grizzle, blue merle, brown, fawn, and white. They require frequent brushing to prevent mats and tangles. Old English Sheepdogs need frequent washing around their mouth and behind because of their long fur. They need to be bathed every eight weeks and have their nails trimmed and ears checked once a week. Old English Sheepdogs are not for people who do not have the money, time or knowledge to keep up their coats.
